ICFF with Bernhardt Design
Our Matter Contract team recently hosted several guests in New York to kick off ICFF and NYCxDesign with Bernhardt Design. Along the way on this whirlwind long-weekend, we bumped into several new product launches.
Ice by Daniel Germani
This award-winning collection of hand-blown, Murano glass occasional tables comes in three sizes (13x19 with oblong and cantilevered top, round 21” diameter, round 28” diameter) and three colors (cobalt, amber, and smoke). Daniel Germani states, “Working with glass is magical. The heat of the ovens, the energy of the makers, the “dance” of the many people assisting during the process, and the beauty they create every time the molten glass is blown in a form, is pure bliss. It is a perfectly imperfect process where the art of the maestro is represented in every unique piece. I have the utmost respect for the “human touch” of the artisans of Murano.”
Community Textiles Collection by Nana Boateng
Featuring cotton, linen, wool, and leather, this new collection by menswear designer Nana Boateng translates his expert tailoring skills into textiles for furniture upholstry. Boateng’s unique skillset was highlighted in the ICFF display where each textile was featured as an article of clothing. Included are a classic twill-style Bangkok; the plush Kumasi performance velvet; the full-grain leather London; the boucle Roma; and Istanbul, an epingle weave with varying loop heights for added touchability.
Friends Modular Sofa by Noe Duchaufour Lawrance and Luca Nichetto
Designed as a collaboration between Duchaufour Lawrance and Nichetto, Friends combines geometric and organic shapes into one piece. Arms on the modular seating are optional and can be wood or fully upholstered. The arm width and height lend themselves to perching, and the unique back mimics the architectural features of the Centre Pompidou.
More to Come
